In 1994 the only album of the Southern Rock formation Pride & Glory was released. After Ozzy Osbourne announced his first departure from the rock business after the album "No More Tears" (1991), guitarist Zakk Wylde suddenly had no job. In 1992 he founded the band Lynyrd Skynhead with the White-Lion rhythm team consisting of bassist James LoMenzo and drummer Greg D'Angelo. Some songs of the trio appeared on the sampler "L.A. Blues Authority Vol. 1" (1992), but under the name Zakk Wylde. In 1994, before the self-titled debut album was recorded, the name changed with the addition of drummer Brian Tichy (Billy Idol, Whitesnake, Foreigner and Kenny Wayne Shepherd). One year later the chapter Pride & Glory was over after a worldwide tour and several festival appearances in Europe. Because Ozzy called to record his next album "Ozzmosis" (1995).

eclipsed: What kind of greeting is that?! Is there alcohol involved? It's only 10:00 in the morning, isn't it?
Wylde: We wanted to talk about Southern Rock, didn't we?
eclipsed: I'll say. How did it happen that you dedicated yourself to Southern Rock during the short Ozzy break for your first musical project?
Wylde: I've been a Lynyrd-Skynyrd fan ever since I can remember, and so it was almost a matter of course for me. I also wanted to do something that you wouldn't necessarily associate with an Ozzy guitarist.
eclipsed: Despite all the country sounds, the first and only Pride&Glory album is sometimes very heavy, and your guitar solos are quite Ozzy typical.
Wylde: Correct. I must agree with you. I guess you can't get out of your skin that fast after all. On the other hand, it doesn't make sense to record an album that Lynyrd Skynyrd or the Allman Brothers Band could have recorded better.
