Suppose Yann Tiersen had not been born French, but somewhere in the far north of Europe, and had not made instrumental music, but had also sung. - Maybe, but only maybe, he would sound like Dánjal á Neystabø and his band Dánjal. The singer and pianist from the Faroe Islands has gathered six more musicians from all over Scandinavia for the album "Time". The Finnish mandolin player Kim Nyberg sets the tone together with Neystabø. Together they create melodies that sometimes jump, sometimes indulge in deep melancholy. The seven-minute, quiet "Never Again" is of timeless elegance. Songs like the klezmer-like "People On The Run" or "At The Station" offer hooklines that immediately invite you to sing along. In addition to piano, mandolin and various guitars, violin, cello, clarinet, tuba, trombone, trumpet and choral songs refine the fine arrangements. And the last five minutes of the title track are almost too good to be true. Just a wonderful album.
