Mani Neumeier and his band Guru Guru have been on stage for 45 years. One can hardly believe it in view of the energy with which the Odenwalder always inspires his audience. Music keeps you young. "45 Years Live" is a live recording from December 2013 in Heidelberg and at the same time a comprehensive career overview of Guru Guru. Because old and new tracks are represented here. With "Ooga Booga" ("Känguru" 1972) even the piece that "we have been playing for the longest time", including an estimated ten-minute drum solo. The Finkenback anthem "Living In The Woods" was celebrated as well as the songs of the last two albums, "Chabbli Babbli", "Return Of The Platypus", "Rock'n'Rollmachine". Neumeier's jazz rock past is also evident here. Radio's on, too. Nevertheless: A Guru Guru concert is a world music trip, with room for a lot of clambake. Of course, Heidelberg also saw and heard the "Elektrolurch" in which Neumeier asks: "What do you actually do when you are older? He gives the answer himself: "Keep going!" The man will be 75 next year. Hats off.
