Fuzz Manta are going into it right away and start their fourth album "The Stonewolf" with the 34-minute title track. He's going through several metamorphoses. It starts with a sluggish groove and a simple but effective synth loop, plus bass and organ. It's a Space Artrock intro. Then it gets heavy: fast riffs, highspeed drums and the voice of singer Lene Kjær Hvillum. Now it's heavy rock, dirty, snotty, brash, cheeky and yet melodious. At some point it gets even faster, before it finally changes into a relaxed part with organs and piano, before it gets faster again with howling guitars and synthesizers. This longtrack is a bastard with different facets. In the following four pieces, however, the Danes make it more compact, clearer and more usual. "Sooner Or Later" is 70s heavy rock full of riffs, with a fat organ, weird keyboards and a gripping vocal melody. The reef in "My Baby In Vain" is worth a visit. Fuzz Manta are sovereign and offer the right fabric for headbanging.
