The North are nicknamed "Denmark's Pink Floyd". Not without reason. Also on their latest opus, the nine-minute album "Oceans" begins with an extremely gilmorous, highly sensitively played guitar and cotton-soft spherical synths. But after three minutes a Celtic harp suddenly sounds like a mixture of Floyd, Vollenweider and Clannad. The vocal track "You" is beguiling with massive Hammond, acoustic guitar and imploring electric guitar. "Carry Me" then begins very traditionally Celtic, but also immediately combines with floydy daydreams. The strong vocal harmonies are also carried here by a female voice. But basically only two musicians, Peter Brander and Kim Skovbye, are responsible for the diversity of these sounds. The floating title track is again purely instrumental and beguiling. In "The Circle Part 2" a Scottish bagpipe is also playing the musical field. "All Of Your Love" is the obligatory ballad. Otherwise, there is a wonderful atmospheric density, which makes both Pink-Floyd and Celtic fans crawl over their backs with comforting shivers.
