RICH ROBINSON - The Ceaseless Sight

The younger of the Robinson brothers uses the inactive phase of the Black Crowes for the third time to launch a solo album. If you are honest, neither "Paper" (2004) nor "Through A Crooked Sun" (2012) have unhinged the world, and you are truly not a prophet, you see for "The Ceaseless Sight" just as much of a future as a branch and insider product as the two predecessors. Here solid craftsmanship is offered, paired with some nice to really appealing song ideas. But the famous spark jumps far too rarely. Completely different from the Black Crowes, the guitarist, who performs his songs with his uncharismatic voice, provides little or no goose bumps. His new numbers are also very country and often seem pale and sketchy. It lacks the madness and psychedelic that characterizes both the crowes and the Brotherhood project of his brother Chris. The fatal thing is that you often get the impression that if the crowes interpreted the song, it could be really good.
