If psych bands trust in the legacy of the band around Jim Morrison, one can hope for a more experimental approach - and won't be disappointed here either. Basically, the creative handling of original versions is indispensable in order not to resemble one of the dreaded tribute bands that give the listener half-cooked food at city festivals as second-rate Bruce Springsteens or third-rate Pinks. Elephant Stone turn "L. A. Woman" into a medium-fast wave song, while the Dark Horses on "Hello, I Love You" are reminiscent of Nico in the late seventies and bring Camera in the Lo-Fi sound "People Are Strange" as a surf instrumental. Beside the undifferentiated failure "Touch Me" of the Meadows (which sounds a lot like Visage) the tribal stomp "Roadhouse Blues" of Vietnam and especially the very short "The End" of The Raveonettes score, which get the cult song out of the dark corner and make it a floating psych/space number. An exquisite tribute that suffers from too much reverb in some passages.
