The Swedish space quartet My Brother The Wind likes to claim that their songs are pure improvisations. This may apply to the process of creation. But what you can hear on his third studio album are coherent instrumental pieces that follow an inner logic and carry a special handwriting. That the members understand each other so well musically is due to their common weakness for psychedelic sounds from the sixties and seventies, as they also cultivate it in their main bands: Guitarist Mathias Danielsson plays with Makajodama (prog), guitarist and mellotron player Nicklas Barker with Anekdoten (prog) and bassist Ronny Eriksson with Magnolia (retro-hardrock). The new drummer Daniel Fridlund Brandt fits in well with his penchant for jazzy playing. With their latest work My Brother The Wind loosely maintain the level of the first two records. From the first to the last note, from the spherical "Prologue" to the hypnotic "Into The Cosmic Halo" to the more lively, jazzy "Epilogue", the sounds captivate the listener. Open as a camera flight over Scandinavian landscapes, they leave him plenty of room for his own fantasies and reveries. Probably they will be as worn out as the excursions of guitars, mellotron, flute, bass, drums and congas. In several places acoustic guitars provide folky hippie elements, in "Misty Mountainside" they even play the leading role. Sound engineer Love Tholin provides the certain Sixties sound by means of vintage effects - Flanger, Plate Reverbs, Tape Echoes. Touching: the dreamy tribute to the musician Thomas Mera Gartz, who died two years ago, drummer of the prog band Träd, Gräs Och Stenar and the psychedelics Mecki Mark Men.
