MELVINS - Hold It In

Buzz Osbourne and Dale Crover, in short: the unshakeable Melvins, always come up with something new, how and with whom they complete their band. They fraternise with Paul Leary and JD Pinkus on their latest prank, who are best remembered from the grandiose days of the Butthole Surfers. The songs of the album are accordingly bipolar. One half sounds like Melvins pure, the other half like Butthole Surfers. It's the mix that does it. Some are as heavy as bricks, others as light as songbirds. The connecting element is the pronounced penchant for irony, which is characteristic of both bands. And in some special moments the intentions of the two meet in an exciting way. As far as quality is concerned, the uncorruptible Melvins are always on the right side, but this time they have really succeeded in combining two decisive streams of indie innovation. From Trash to Artrock to Alternative Metal everything is included. An extremely entertaining album by four gifted avant-garde veterans.
