The hardcore past of the band from Baltimore is hardly noticeable anymore. On her third album she presents mostly restrained Emo-Core, only seldom there is screaming. Drama must still be, but it is created by the structure of the pieces, by the lively rhythm section that contrasts with the rather calm vocal lines and the melodic guitars ("April"; "Lesions"). The occasional outbursts of singer Kyle Durfey are well dosed and lead tension-laden pieces like "Old Jaw" sovereign to the climax. The bass gets a lot of space and sets important accents for the often dark tuning ("Repine"). But from the sixth track on there is a break, the song structures seem to repeat rather than vary, the record threatens to become monotonous, the vocals lose a little of their magic and begin to linger, sometimes appearing monotonous. The tempo continues to slow down until the last track, after a short last outcry, releases the listener with a decidedly boring outro into helplessness - or into a peaceful slumber.
