The British sextet Moon'shee plays on the fine line between traditional Britfolk and playful Indian world music. Four girls and two guys are riding a whole new hippie wave here. The often polyphonic singing sounds a bit more like the Dixie Chicks than the Corrs, always beautifully homemade. The typical instruments of classical folk music are violins, guitar and harp. The two men in the band bring oriental colours into play with sitar and Indian percussion. So the opener "Bold Riley" is also a wonderful musical hermaphrodite, which could have been sung by the Mamas & Papas once. In "Fair And Tender Ladies" fiddel, harp and sitar compete against each other. With "The Emigrant" a modern folk classic succeeds and with some titles like "Candleford Anthem" or "Cortina Reel Mk III" the tempo is fortunately also increased. A nice version of the Beatles song "Tomorrow Never Knows" concludes this pleasant, but also a bit too harmless album.
