BLACK SPACE RIDERS - Light Is The New Black

Kategorie: CD-Reviews | Genre: Stoner/Desertrock | Heft: Jahrgang 2012, eclipsed Nr. 138 / 3-2012 | VÖ-Jahr: 2012 | Wertung: 7/10 | Label: Brainstorm | Autor: CA

All hands to battle stations, the Black Space Riders are on the move and will certainly not take prisoners. Exactly one hour is her attack on the eardrums. After that silence is pure relaxation. Already on "Creature Of No Light" (subtitle: Exodus Part One) singer JE lets Dave Wyndorf hang out ultra cool. This sets the course for "Light Is The New Black": Spacerock meets Doom and Stoner here with full force. The hardness is always slightly above the actual limit. The album is divided into a "Light Side", a "Bright Side", a "White Side" and a "Night Side", which makes sense as "Light Is The New Black" is also released as a double album. In a hammer track like "I Am Fire", the foursome from Germany is full of energy. "We Used To Live In Light (Exodus Part Two)" delivers over eight minutes of psychoactive continuous fire with depth effect. "Someone Has Turned The Knob To Switch On The Light, But Instead Something Strange Happened To The Warp Engine", on the other hand, is only one minute.
