With a new singer, the Dutch band FeedForward has recorded their second album after "Barefoot & Naked" (2006) - this time also with the support of a record company. The marketing concept is also new. Because FeedForward are sold as Progmetalact, which is half the truth at best. The other 50 percent or more are divided into melodic metal and mainstream rock, here and there with a slight gothic attitude. Fascinating which bands all come to mind when listening to the nine songs: from Evanescence and The Gathering to Erik Norlander (intro), Arjen Lucassen's Star One and Stratovarius to Magenta and Stream Of Passion in the quieter moments. Upstream" suffers a little from this indecision, which others may call stylistic diversity. After all, singer Patrice has everything from dynamic ("Relevant", "For Now") to warm and soulful ("As One") vocals. But this is also necessary for a band that defines itself primarily through the vocals, but otherwise offers little that is really original.
