On the felt last meters of their more than 40 years band history the British rip themselves with their model-Ami Vinnie Moore after "The Monkey Puzzle" again a grandiose album out. And the nicest thing about it is that it sounds like it didn't bother. UFO 2012 don't seem to be superimposed or "steel panther"-tormenting, every note is in the right place. Andy Parker's drumming becomes a match winner. Less voluminous than Bonham, but more playful than Simon Kirke, "the man without a neck" marks out the terrain in which a guitarist of the goodness of Moore can simply shine. Like on the previous album some songs got a blues rock notch, other tracks sound like old acquaintances after 30 years. The mostly sparing arrangement suits Phil Mogg's voice, which seems to become more emotional every year, very well. But not everything will succeed. "Angel Station", for example, sounds like a half-heartedly touched mixture of a classic UFO half ballad and a Southern rock piece. But the nonchalance comes back immediately with the following song and accompanies us until the final chord.
