Well-informed progmetal lovers should pay attention to the name Adrian Weiss. After all, the US-American living in Germany already plays with the unfortunately often overlooked Thoughtsphere and their successor Forces At Work. Both bands are highly recommended for genre fans on this occasion. "Big Time is aimed at a completely different clientele. Adrian Weiss has been working on his first solo album for almost four years. The result is a fine instrumental trip, which fortunately is less characterized by breakneck self-congratulation, but rather by carefully elaborated songs and melodies. Unfortunately, this attempt doesn't always succeed as brilliantly as in "Sum Drive" or "Desert Sanctuary", which is why Weiss can't play his way into the elite sphere of Joe Satriani or Andy Timmons with "Big Time". Nevertheless, genre fans should give the Düsseldorf guy a chance. They will certainly not regret it, because Weiss can play, no question.
