DION - Tank Full Of Blues

Kategorie: CD-Reviews | Genre: Blues/Bluesrock | Heft: Jahrgang 2012, eclipsed Nr. 139 / 4-2012 | VÖ-Jahr: 2012 | Wertung: 7/10 | Label: Blue Horizon | Autor: AT

It's hard to believe, but this is actually the Dion who succeeded in creating a rock'n'roll evergreen with "The Wanderer". This CD, which appears on the reactivated Blue Horizon label, proves that he can also move effortlessly in the blues. Dion is less interested in extended solo parts and concentrates on the overall atmosphere, interesting rhythms and his singing. Dark Shuffle ("You Keep Me Cryin'"), Chicago Blues ("My Baby's Cryin'") and a ballad describing his background ("Bronx Poem") sound so haunting and authentic, as if he hadn't made any other music his whole life. The fact that a few numbers resemble each other does not carry too much weight.
