The Secret Rhythms, which are being continued here for the fourth time, are not quite as secret anymore. The collaboration between Burnt Friedman and ex-CAN drummer Jaki Liebezeit has now lasted twelve years, in which the two experiment with polyrhythm and syncopation (always Liebezeit's hobbyhorse) and bring the crooked rhythms created in this way to an organic flow. The "Secret Rhythms" are passionate mantras full of dynamics and energy. They are the base and the centre. The rest, sounds and scapes, are only decorative accessories in a development that has been going on for half a century now. Also on album number five the single tracks have no special titles, but codes like "240-11", "130-11" or "105-09". This time the congenial duo kept the instrumentals, some of which were recorded with guests such as Tim Motzer and Daniel Schröter, within manageable limits: They only last three to five minutes at a time. Only once the hypnotic drive is extremely throttled. In the "Romain Sygroves & Burnt Friedman Remix" of "120-12".

Top track: 240-11
