The Texan Teresa Maldonado shows herself to be extremely versatile on her new album "Weather Codes", which she has recorded again under the project name Georgia's Horse. There's a lot on offer here. If at the beginning you still believe that the artist has dedicated herself to the dirty swamp blues, as PJ Harvey so brilliantly recorded it for her album "To Bring You My Love", you'll soon learn better: folk, indie rock, even music hall reminiscences can be found in the songs. But Maldonado makes every effort to bring her own style into these changing frames. As inspirations she mentions Will Oldham (obvious), Bauhaus (understandable) and the Black Metal veterans of Venom (surprising). And indeed, this music cannot be nailed down, it breathes darkness and threat, but at the same time has a liberating and light effect. No light food, but one that leaves the listener completely satisfied.
