If you want to imagine the sound of this duo from Portland/Oregon, you should think of a mixture of the hushed up indie pop of Bon Iver, the anachronistic song structures of Radiohead and the ethereal sound paintings of a Brian Eno. By the way, he recently awarded Port St. Willow the accolade of knighthood when he euphorically praised her in an interview. In any case, the two musicians took a lot of time for their first album. Rehearsals already started in 2009, an EP followed, and the rest of the more accessible material, according to chief thinker Nicholas Principe, found its place on "Holiday". For those for whom the quiet, attention-getting and free of any hooklines floating chamber pop is still too conventional, Principe also recorded the 25-minute suite called "Soft Light Rush", which he considers the second face of "Holiday". All in all a bit exhausting, homophonic music, but at the highest level.
