Less is more, could be the formula of the new album of Archives. In contrast to many other bands, who are always content with the old brand core, archives reinvent themselves with each work. The days of TripHop and Progressive are numbered with them; immediately with the first track "Feel It" archives make it unmistakably clear where they stand. The song is unusually minimalistic, the vocals are almost speech vocals, everything is based on a consistent beat. The drummer is in charge, and so the band sounds like a big drum in the rhythmic barrage of most songs. Variety and variety are nevertheless given, because the different singers of the band always bring in new colours. Some pieces merge into each other. Thus "Feel It", "Restriction" and "Kid Corner" form a unit just like "Ruination" and "Crushed". These long distance runs are interrupted by touching ballads like "End Of Our Days" or "Black And Blue", which provide relaxation after all the piled up energy. The whole CD sounds like a single song. "Restriction" is not a conceptual work, but the band refers to the classic quality of the album and tells a story that wants to be heard from the first to the last song. Grabbing out individual songs or even changing the order would make absolutely no sense. After the conceptually challenging work on the film project "Axiom", it was important for the archivists to live out their live energy in the studio. The songs were relatively easy for the band. You can hear that. They also enter the bloodstream quickly. And there is a lot of love in the great arc of the narrative structure.
