Benny Greb is a German drummer who enjoys a much better reputation abroad than in Germany. The jazz rock connoisseur knows him best as the drummer of Colin Towns' Blue Touch Paper. With two exponents of the younger British scene, guitarist Chris Montague and keyboarder Kit Downes, he has now set up the trio Moving Parts, which mediates between classical jazz rock of the seventies and the electronically colored groove jazz experience of the present. The trio's music functions like a magic cube with which individual timbres and rhythmic surfaces are repeatedly located in new temporal and spatial coordinates. The leadership within the trio changes not only from piece to piece, but often also rapidly in the course of a track. Three musicians with three thousand impulses - jazz can hardly be more alive.
