Since 1988 Jennifer Herrema and Neil Hagerty were a couple, private and musical, and formed the rock band Royal Trux. 2002 was the end, private and musical. Herrema presented three albums with other musicians under the name RTX. Now RTX is history, too. However, the same musicians continue as Black Bananas. Herrema remained true to herself on the debut "Rad Times Xpress IV". With her cheeky voice, the singer still cultivates a rich rock that unites two things that initially don't fit together: the dirt that simply belongs to good old rock'n'roll and all the complex structures that make up art rock or prog. The guitars are dirty. At the same time, the arrangements, which are in love with detail, are full of layers of sound laid on top of each other. You can hear spacy sounds in "Acid Song", funky basses in "Hot Stupid" and a shimmering guitar solo in "RTX Gogo", which could also come from the young Joe Satriani. Sometimes we rap, sometimes we cool relax, then we rock again. And the groove in "TV Trouble" is unbeatable.
