Anton Newcombe, the frontman of Brian Jonestown Massacre, has never been at a loss for full-bodied sayings. Also with the titling of the new TBJM album, which was recorded in Berlin, the trailblazer of Neopsychedelic Rock is not very reserved. Nevertheless "Revelation" did not become the hoped for revelation despite all advance praise, even if the opener "Vad Hände Med Dem?", sung in Swedish, sounds very lively through the speakers. The first single "What You Isn't", on the other hand, scarcely misses its irrelevance. Better already are the folkrock ballads "Unknown" and "Days, Weeks And Moths" as well as the wonderfully tenacious "Fist Full Of Bees". At the studio sessions Newcombe, who a few years ago had renounced alcohol and drugs, proceeded much more disciplined than before, but after listening to "Revelation" the impression solidifies that his music did not necessarily benefit from it. P.S.: In June the Brian Jonestown Massacre plays some concerts in Germany and Switzerland, which are presented by eclipsed.
