The young man, who calls himself Budam, comes from the Faroe Islands, those inhospitable islands which lie north of Scotland far in the North Sea and are a painful concept for every Austrian due to a legendary compulsory defeat against the hobby kickers of the archipelago. Now Budam is coming to teach fear to the music world as well. The result is probably best described as ambivalent. On the one hand, Budam is full of good ideas and bizarre ideas. On the other hand, their implementation suffers a little. As wacky as the songs sound, as much as they try to oscillate between insanity and a sometimes astonishing melodiousness, the performance too often seems amateurish and at times even embarrassing. If Budam screams hysterically or proclaims stilted phrases in such bad English that you simply don't want to take the content from him, you somehow switch off. That's too bad, because if the man could find some measure, he'd be really good.
