Porcupine Tree bassist Colin Edwin played a single gig in 2013 together with Italian bassist Lorenz Feliciati. This was so successful that the two of them now present their debut together with "Twinscapes". Prominent support is also there: None other than the Norwegian Nils Petter Molvaer, now a jazz icon, plays two tracks of trumpet. Jazz rock is what the eleven instrumental tracks present. Of course the basses are the centre of attention. They are held together by various electronics. One bass takes over the part of the lead instrument, while the second takes care of the rhythm. As with bass legend Mick Karn, this produces amazing sounds, especially when the woofer is electronically distorted. The variety of timbres is amazing. The grooves are clever. Edwin proves his eclectic style with this album. Apart from Porcupine Tree, he has already tried his hand at ethno, metal and ambient. It's all coming together beautifully here. Speaking of bassists: Bill Laswell mixed the album.
