Grooves and riffs are in the foreground on Comet Control's debut. At position two there are long guitar solos with a proper fuzz part. Third place goes to catchy melodies. It is precisely this blend that makes the eight tracks of the Canadian quintet so appealing. The rhythms are the best material for headbanging and clearly gain charm through the hooklines. Singing along is made easy here. Nevertheless, Comet Control are far away from stadium rock. And by no means radio compatible, which is due to the two guitarists. They add the icing on the cake to all the aggressive riffs with their solos. If the first tracks like "Blast Magic", "Ultra Bright" or "Future Forever" are still fast and heavy, the hardness factor is regulated down to the end: "Fear The Haze" is a longing rocker with excellent guitar singleplayer. "Master" comes slow-motion-like and therefore all the more haunting. But the highlight is the massive, leisurely, almost epic "Hats Off To Life", which scores with organ carpets and guitar lines like the young David Gilmour. Hats off.
