CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX - Poznan Live

Kategorie: CD-Reviews | Genre: Artrock | Heft: Jahrgang 2013, eclipsed Nr. 153 / 9-2013 | VÖ-Jahr: 2013 | Wertung: 8/10 | Label: Cool Green | Autor: BSV

Such a mean thing: "Burnt Reynolds", the highlight of every Crippled Black Phoenix show, where the audience sings along passionately, is missing on this 115 minutes long live double CD. Nevertheless, "Poznan Live" is a great work, as the British have countless other art rock anthems in their repertoire. Recorded in 2011 in Poznan, Poland with the old singer Joe Volk, the album presents the band in top form. The Journey cover "Of A Lifetime" with Daisy Chapman on the mic is sensational. Very big are for example "Troublemaker", "The Heart Of Every Country" or "444". Even bigger, even more hymnal, even more powerful are "Song For The Loved", "We Forgotten Who We Are" or "The Brain / Poznan". At the time of the recording the studio album "(Mankind) The Crafty Ape" had not been released yet, so it was even more interesting to hear three songs before the release. The energy and fascination that CBP can unleash live is captured here and becomes transparent. "Poznan Live" will definitely be one of the top live albums in 2013.

Top track: The Brain / Poznan
