Some things take time. It took CEG frontman Joseph D'Agostino seven years to process the pain over the loss of his deceased friend and musical companion Benjamin High with the help of music. This is not only what the nine songs are about, but also, according to the band, a return to the fact that one once believed that one could actually change the world with music and write a rock song that grips, awakens and changes you. This is expressed by numerous musical quotations. In the first piece, "Jackson", passages are reminiscent of Supertramp and The Smashing Pumpkins. "Warning" has a lot of a Gaslight-Anthem-Song and surprises with horns. The album holds even more surprises. For example, the folk-punk song "XR", which is simply not expected on this record. For reassurance, the following "Place Names" begins quite dreamily, but then picks up tempo and ends in a weird instrumental part with a bizarre background noise. The fact that a predominantly acoustic, very melodious song follows afterwards is exemplary for the dramaturgy of this album.
