If you dare to approach The Allman Brothers' "Jessica" and keep this track floating in the air with the same casualness as the Allmänner for more than nine minutes, you deserve some respect per se. The Texan David Grissom intones this Southern Rock classic in the half-hour live part of his fourth solo album. Before that there are eight studio tracks, on which there is often a typical Texan creak. Grissom, who has been in the scene for years as a sidekick for John Mellencamp, Buddy Guy, Robben Ford and even the Allmans no stranger, now takes his solo career more seriously again. Fortunately, because his accentuated solos are an extraordinary listening pleasure. Unfortunately, you can't always say that about your song ideas. His songs often sound like those of the Stones in the Mick-Taylor era, only many times more conservative. But when the troops are in a jam mood, they develop a real class. This is also the case with the final ZZ top number "Nasty Dogs And Funky Kings".
