All fans of Americana sounds, watch out! Here comes an album that belongs to the best that has been released in this area lately. "Jubilee" is already the fifth album of The Deep Dark Woods. It was produced by the seemingly hyperactive Jonathan Wilson, who offers a warm sound with Seventies vibe, which reminds of his own records as well as the excellent second Dawes album, which he is also in charge of. The fascinating thing about "Jubilee", however, is how playfully The Deep Dark Woods succeeds in trying out all conceivable variations of the genre. While the opener "Miles And Miles" still sounds like Neil Young, "18th Of December" is a dry folk anthem, while "East St. Louis" is a psychedelic festive song with Hawaii guitars. This is followed by an epic track called "A Voice Is Calling", which is reminiscent of "House Of The Rising Sun". A fantastic, varied work, which will certainly not only fascinate friends of Americana sounds.
