"Pani Sindhu", the "Kingdom of Sindhu", is situated on the river of the same name in Pakistan, where the inhabitants still call themselves Sindhi. In India this river is called Indus. And this is where we find the starting point for Dotschy Reinhardt's new album, "Pani Sindhu", which takes us to her old homeland India, which was abandoned by the Sinti 1000 years ago. With her old colleagues Alexey Wagner and Lancy Falta, the pianist and arranger Christian von der Goltz as well as numerous Indian musicians, she has embarked on an experiment with "Pani Sindhu". And it works out as the singer expands her gypsy jazz and swing with not inconsiderable influences of Indian music. Thus Dotschy Reinhardt celebrates a crossover, which bundles the more than one thousand year old traditions of the gypsies in one album and also scatters their most important musical influences. These include Ravi Shankar ("Prabhujee"), John McLaughlin ("Qué Alegria") and film composer John Barry ("Walkabout").
