In the best sense German sounds the technically versed Hardrock of Emerge. The opener "Falling Down" is already full of details and powerful. The predicate "played cleanly" is certainly no insult to the Southern German quintet, because instrumentally every band member captivates all along the line. Despite the attitude "handmade" the album doesn't sound like Seventies Classic Hardrock, but clearly located in the here and now. But the band only plays their trump card when the vocals of Thomas "Magnus" Darscheid are heard. The former Regenburger Domspatz has an organ that you can hear from hundreds and yet never push yourself into the foreground in such a way that nothing else can exist next to it. Only the coverdale lyrics ("Baby, you're a weapon, let me be your slave" from "Physical Addiction") spoil the joy of "Perception One" a bit and the Def-Leppard choruses don't fit to every song either. Nevertheless, at this first performance there is much more light than shadow.
