Jack Starr is one of the pioneers of US metal, for which watches musically stopped in 1983. And so the songs of the founding member of Virgin Steele sound wonderfully pure and genuine in 2011 as well. Two years after his successful comeback "Defiance", Starr forges another lesson in US steel from massive riffs, razor-sharp leads and magnificent vocals. Also Todd Hall fits perfectly into the overall picture, the singer sounds like a mixture of a young David De Feis (Virgin Steele), Mike Tirelli (Messiah's Kiss, Riot, Holy Mother) and Tony Moore (Riot). And then there's the "Manowar-Connection": Beside drummer Kenny "Rhino" Earl, who belongs to the regular line-up of the band, Ross The Boss and David Shankle, two other former members of the former Kings Of Metal can be heard on "Land Oft The Dead". All in all a nice nostalgic trip for real metal fans.
