THE JEFFREY LEE PIERCE SESSIONS PROJECT - Axels & Sockets

What you never would have dreamed of: Iggy Pop celebrates a song together with Nick Cave and Thurston Moore; Mark Lanegan gets Bertrand Cantat as second voice and lets himself be accompanied by the complete Bad Seeds; Nick Cave on the other hand gets together with Debbie Harry; and Crippled Black Phoenix get started with Lanegan and Cantat. All this and much more happens at the third edition of the Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions initiated by Cypress Grove. As on the two previous editions, the basis is formed by guitar recordings of the Gun Club leader Jeffrey Lee Pierce, who died in 1996 and who found his temporary partner in a forgotten suitcase. The recordings form exactly the tightly tightened tightrope between punk and blues on which the ingenious Pierce balanced in the last years of his life. "Axels & Sockets" is the most successful edition of these sessions so far and we can only hope that there will be quite a few more. It's a Pow Wow of the Good, a peaceful utopia of history-conscious alternative rock and a sensitive tribute to one of the most influential figures in rock history.
