KAPNORTH - Thunder Lightning Storm

Four Swiss musicians have joined forces under the Nordic name Kapnorth. They share a love for Iceland and its myths and used a journey across the wild island as inspiration for their first album. The proximity to the Icelandic music scene is audible - recorded in the studio of Sigur Rós, Brigir Jon Birgisson sat at the controls, who also produced Múm and Retro Stefson. Elia, Dave, Marius and Jonas give the songs a powerful pinch of psychedelic. They make their pieces seem mysterious, play several passages hypnotically slowly and use disharmony as a stylistic device. The lyrics and their musical implementation sound somewhat unreal, as if not from this world. Whether you sing about the mysterious Sophie Rose, tell the legend of Areion or reflect on your own emotional world - the suspense is maintained and you play effectively with tempo changes and surprising arrangements ("Eruptor Core").
