The opener "Azan" groovs its way into the ear canals, a powerful breaker between industrial and dark alternative rock - and thus sets the overall direction for the band's second album by ex Cooper Temple Clause head Tom Bellamy. The second track ("Acrobatica") takes up some more speed and heaviness. The first pause for breath is with "Oblivion", which strikes rather softer notes vocally and melodically. But the mood in the eleven tracks never really brightens up, somehow dark and melancholic it is in almost every song. "Don't Waste Your Life Away" is exceptionally more cheerful, mixes ambient soundwaves with dancefloor rhythm and pop melody, in which the rather mantra-like, confident, philosophical text line "Be you and you will be all. Don't waste your life away". While in "The Chain" the bass speakers arch rhythmically, the quiet title track releases the listener into the black night.
