The Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li (aka Li Lykke Timotej Svensson Zaschrisson) was the talk of the town last due to the trigger finger remix of her hit "I Follow Rivers". From the Dreampop of earlier albums (especially the 2011 "Wounded Rhymes") she has now largely said goodbye and puts her songwriter qualities more in the foreground. Their sound is now even more delicate and their pieces are less danceable. Unfortunately, she has shed her joy of experimentation as well as her diversity: The songs performed sometimes on piano, sometimes on acoustic guitar all end as power ballads and are almost all performed in the same tempo and style. With "Never Gonna Love Again" she even scratches sharply at the edge of kitsch. Is that why the album only lasts 32 minutes? So you don't notice it too much? Lykke Li has certainly become more hymnal and monotonous. But also more accessible. The record company will like that, because the success is almost guaranteed. But if you like a variety of sounds, compositions and moods, you will hardly be satisfied with this album.
