It's finally time. After being active for many years only in the back of other jazz greats and at best being able to follow one or the other of his solo efforts on YouTube, the New York guitarist Nir Felder releases his first album under his own direction. His spectrum starts with jazzy staccati, goes over rock and hip hop and ends with association-rich timbre games. It is pleasing that he never misuses his long overdue debut to emphasize his virtuosity on the instrument. Rather, he focuses his attention on moods. On the other hand, the CD sometimes seems like a catalogue of his conceptual possibilities or a collective announcement for the future. Here a guitarist reveals himself, who will surely be heard more of himself in the future, but still has some air up his sleeve.
