Welcome to the dark side of the Sixties and Seventies! Black magic, witchcraft, demons already fascinated rock bands back then. Some of them expressed this in single songs, others aligned their whole work including band names accordingly. The British band around Rosie Cunningham, named after a mighty king of hell, follows the dark trail of the anti-flower children in a disturbingly authentic way. By means of occult rhythms, magical mellotrons, satanic Wurlitzer, demonic guitar riffs, witch singing and an almost inexhaustible reservoir of seductive melodies - the bandleader is a declared Beatles fan - the debut takes the listener on an exquisite ghost train ride. Whether it's a rebirth fantasy ("Spiderwood-Farm"), a dressed-up social criticism ("Leaning On A Bear"), a reappraisal of a manic relationship ("Sailor Wife's Lament") or adolescent rock star dreams including bowie bowing ("Tragical Catastrophe") - this dark retro trip is "hellish" fun.
