If you watch US series like "Grey's Anatomy", "Nip/Tuck" or "30 Rock", you might have stumbled across one or the other song of the 34-year-old US-American of Japanese descent. If not, then maybe about her celebrated debut "Happenstance" from 2004 with the addictive catchy tune "Be Be Your Love". Now their third longplayer is available, again produced by John Alagia. In "Even If I Don't", Rachael Yamagata pushes the keys of her piano so dynamically that her glockenspiel and cello-covered Girlie cosmos takes off like once with Fiona Apple. In "Starlight" she gives the scalded one with a smoky voice and Americana sound. "Saturday Morning is as relaxed as a Jack Johnson song. She again serves up great emotional cinema with piano in "You Won't Let Me", the song about the lover who doesn't want her back anymore. The sky covered with strings leaves no eye dry, just like in other ballads (great: "Full On", only with piano and strings). Also other styles like lascivious Jazz-Pop and Slide- Guitar-Rock have the Lady on it. No number disappoints or overruns with too much pop and false pathos. Instead: real feeling and earthy sound finesse.
