"Moksha" means what Buddhists mean by enlightenment. Raz Ohara made the term the theme of his third album. The six tracks contained on it are reminiscent of a spiritual trip that programmatically leads to the endpoint called "Light": a piece characterized by stretched grooves that pushes deep with its dub-infected bass. The lead song "Sungaze", of course, doesn't sound any sunnier: a trip hop piece with a diffuse underwater mood, while a harmonica motif à la Ennio Morricone spreads quiet drama and a male speaking voice warns of the vanities of the world. The Dane with his home in Berlin extended the bass-heavy electronic sound palette with almost haptically warm sounds of xylophone, percussion, bass clarinet and electric guitar. The most conspicuous ingredient, however, is Ohara's sparingly used emotional vocals, which remind one of Prince. Sometimes the tracks, which oscillate between club and headphone music, strike such idiosyncratic directions that one can lose the thread without concentrated attention. But the introspective journey only works with full concentration. Top track: True Love Will Find You In The End
