The Canadian with the sensational multicultural name Saidah Baba Talibah mixes a really hot cocktail. You take hot soul as the basic substance, mix a good portion of solid hard rock and funk with it and mix the whole thing with lively alternative rock. The horn-driven, hearty opener "Revolution" fits perfectly into the current retro-soul boom and should soon fill the dance floors. The title track could almost have come from Mother's Finest, even if the attracted rhythm is more sneaky. "Bang It Back" then goes full throttle: the voice sexy wicked, the guitars uncompromisingly hard, the synth a deafening siren. And even the background girls kick you in the butt here. "So Cool" docks with Lenny Kravitz when he was heavy. At "High" even beatlesque strings and e-piano can loosen up the mood. This is followed by a languishing ballad with guitar and orchestra, pure-blooded one-to-one-wind-funk, Stevie-Wonder-Soul and with the eight-minute finale "Fall Again" even experimental music theatre by the declared Radiohead lover. Wow. Wow.
