20 minutes, 19 minutes, 19 minutes, 18 minutes - these are the playing lengths of the four tracks on the new Space Debris album "Phonomorphosis". So everyone knows that the German quartet has planned the album for a double vinyl release. But don't worry, "Phonomorphosis" is also excellent on CD. How many ideas Space Debris put into their tracks is already clear from the opener "Colussus Stranded": These could have been ten different tracks. But it works better as a whole. The transitions of the individual phases are exciting and something flowing organic arises. Bass, cymbals and mystical organs are reminiscent of Floyd's "Set The Controls...", female voices, rocky guitar riffs, sometimes slow, sometimes fast driving drums, again and again solos on organ or guitar. Something keeps moving, something new keeps coming. Everything without hectic rush and with enough leisure for every single passage. Space Debris have reached a high level in the meantime, but are at the same time able to add new timbres to their sound.
