STAN WEBB/CHICKEN SHACK - Stan's Blues

Kategorie: CD-Reviews | Genre: Blues/Bluesrock | Heft: Jahrgang 2012, eclipsed Nr. 138 / 3-2012 | VÖ-Jahr: 2012 | Wertung: 7/10 | Label: Music Avenue | Autor: AT

Albums by Chicken Shack, the legend of British Blues, are highly regarded among fans, even though, as in this case, it is once again a live recording, in which Stan Webb offers almost the same program as on numerous live recordings of the nineties and noughties released by obscure labels. Webb's vocals and his nuanced guitar are simply incomparable. At the beginning of the gig the mixing ratios weren't right, because except for him the musicians were too quiet. But that changed in the course of the concert, which of course also included "The Thrill Has Gone", "I'd Rather Go Blind", "Doctor Brown" and "The Sweetest Thing" on the menu. Goose bumps pure despite some sound weaknesses.
