Supersilent are the undisputed pioneers of Norwegian ambient jazz. For a long time there was nothing more to be heard of the formation mutating into a trio, but after a good band tradition the three multitaskers Helge Sten, Arve Henriksen and Stale Störlökken with "12" now connect to the electro-acoustic sound adventures of former times. Their meanwhile separately gained experiences (Störlökken with Elephant9 and Motorpsycho, Henriksen soloistic and Sten as producer) condense them to a nebulous ambient trip to Nirvana. The album gets along without any emphasis, the message lies in the process. Nor can concrete sound impulses be assigned, apart from Arve Henriksen's trumpet. The pieces describe an endless cable car ride through cloudy mountain landscapes without any hope of arrival. The wind whistles and the abyss reaches from below. In its extremely depressive mood "12" is the perfect album for autumn.
