New Model Army frontman JUSTIN SULLIVAN releases new solo album and tour dates

On May 28, 2021, JUSTIN SULLIVAN will release "Surrounded", his second solo album - eighteen years after his debut "Navigating by the Stars". "Surrounded" is a collection of sixteen new songs written during the early weeks of the 2020 lockdown. All compositions that exemplify Sullivan's love of storytelling, vast landscapes and unforgettable atmospheres.

Largely recorded at home, the album also features contributions from guest musicians, including Jon Thorne on bass (Lamb), on harp Tom Moth (Florence and the Machine - and brother of New Model Army bassist Ceri Monger), and string arrangements by composer friends Tobias Unterberg, Henning Nügel and Shir-Ran Yinon. Also featured are the current members of New Model Army

After the first single "Amundsen", with which Justin Sullivan has already given a first taste of his new work, he now presents the equally emotional, if somewhat quieter second single "Clean Horizon".

"I believe that unadulterated simplicity is like the holy grail for songwriters, but of course that's not achievable through sheer will or hard work," says Justin Sullivan. "I think it's more about being open to what comes. Sometimes there are songs that write themselves. I find myself in a conversation, whether it's with a person I know well or a stranger - and all of a sudden I can see right into that person's heart. I can read and feel their story and then want to write it down. I combine that with a simple melody and the song is done. "Clean Horizon" was one such song that I wrote very quickly the morning after such a conversation and recorded at home with just a guitar and my voice. Later I added the soulful cello of my friend Tobias Unterberg."

The release of the new album will also be accompanied by a Germany-wide tour starting in June 2021.
