14 releases in 14 years - you really can't blame the British multi-instrumentalist Guy ManManning for being idle. However, it is true that he never really wants to succeed in sustainably breaking through the always delivered high mediocrity upwards. The man, whose music is not only reminiscent of Jethro Tull's voice, has the potential to do so. Just listen to the first three pieces: the wonderful romantic and smoldering title track, instrumented with flute, e-piano and mello sounds, including its lovely vocal melody, the shuffle-driven "(Decon)struction Blues" with its elaborate harmony vocals and brass sections and the somewhat shallower "Autumn Song", reminiscent of Fish. But this piece also reveals Manning's weaknesses: the drums remain too simple. As a result, in many places one wished again and again that more would happen and that Manning would be more original in his work. Instead he confirms again and again that he will probably remain the little, good brother of Ian Anderson forever. Top track: The Root, The Leaf & The Bone
