Before the Stockholm-based songwriter Rebekka Karijord was able to imprint herself as an expressive new voice in Norway's indie sphere, she was primarily active as a sound blacksmith for others: with numerous rider and dance pieces. From this, the 31-year-old, whose organ-based studio work from 2012 impressed with its idiosyncratic beauty, has distilled a largely instrumental album. Classical music such as piano, organ and slow moving string sounds dominate the sound palette. Karijord's abstract voice adds something ghostly and enraptured. In "Prologue" from the indie film "Nowhere Home" by compatriot Margreth Olin, vibrato-free string tones pile up to an archaic drone folk tune. In "Lullaby", a dance piece for choreographer Hege Haagenrud, on the other hand, room-loud wind instruments and enchanted piano create the atmosphere of a cosy living room. Rather short mood pictures than composed chapters, Karijord's miniatures do not follow a narrative sheet of their own. Nevertheless, there is cohesion among the melancholic dream pieces.
