Stein Urheim is a Norwegian guitarist who has settled somewhere between John Fahey, Stian Westerhus, Bill Frisell and Pat Metheny. On his debut album "Stein Urheim" he plays five longer solo pieces on the acoustic guitar, which he easily adds electronics to. Jazz, rock, folk, ambient and minimal music are woven like gentle aromas into a breath of sound, always clear and transparent and yet always enigmatic. The music works like a long stream of consciousness, which has no other purpose than to let new individual images light up with every hearing and every listener. The music is as meditative as it is experimental and stirring. Urheim never commits himself to anything at any time. His sound is always on the move, floating, light. With this soul soundtrack, Urheim emerges from nowhere. Where does this little Norwegian people get all these great musical minds from?
