DAWN LANDES - Bluebird

Kategorie: CD-Reviews | Genre: Singer-Songwriter | Heft: Jahrgang 2014, eclipsed Nr. 159 / 4-2014 | VÖ-Jahr: 2014 | Wertung: 6.5/10 | Label: Western Vinyl | Autor: SaS

Dawn Landes, who comes from the country metropolis of Nashville, was once married to the singer-songwriter Josh Ritter. After a probably not so consensual separation, Ritter recorded a divorce plate, the subjective view of which Mrs. Landes probably had to criticize. In any case, the feud between the two, reminiscent of the conflict between Joan Baez and Bob Dylan in the 70s, now continues with the answer album "Bluebird". It has become a Spartan work, on many songs you only hear Dawn Landes' voice and her acoustic guitar. The texts, even if according to their own information they aim towards Josh Ritter, are so general that one can also find something for oneself in them beyond the subjective point of view. Nevertheless the album is unfortunately quite boring in parts, because it became monotonous. And even if it was intentionally a sad, withdrawn record: The more upbeat pieces are by far the best.
